Chris Coleman: 'Ryan Giggs should have left Manchester United after retiring'

Wales boss Chris Coleman believes that Ryan Giggs should have left Manchester United after retiring from playing.

Wales manager Chris Coleman believes that Ryan Giggs should have left Manchester United after hanging up his boots.

The 40-year-old will take on a coaching role as Louis van Gaal's assistant manager at Old Trafford next season.

The appointment was announced on the same day that the Welshman decided to call time on his 24-year career playing for the Red Devils.

However, Coleman believes that Giggs should have cut ties with United once he decided to embark on a coaching career.

"It's always tough to make that jump from playing to management, but especially when you're at the same club and a club that has to win trophies," The Express quotes Coleman as saying.

"Would Ryan be better coming out of United? Probably. He could have got a really good job somewhere, even in the Premier League, on his name alone."

Giggs took interim charge of United for their final four games of last season following the dismissal of manager David Moyes.
