Half-Time Report: Robin van Persie strike sees Manchester United lead

Robin van Persie's first-minute goal sends Manchester United into the half-time interval leading against West Ham United.

Manchester United are enjoying a fortunate 1-0 half-time lead over West Ham United at Old Trafford.

Robin van Persie got the hosts off to the perfect start in the first minute, but it came with a slice of luck.

The Dutchman wriggled free on the edge of the area before trying his luck, and a deflection off James Collins sent the ball past Jussi Jaaskelainen.

The visitors showed no signs of being daunted and managed to get forward, with Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan having decent half-chances to score.

However, Jaaskelainen still had to be alert to stop Anderson's shot, before reacting quickly to deny Javier Hernandez from the rebound.
