How Manchester United could line up against Liverpool

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for Sunday's mouth-watering Premier League showdown with title hopefuls Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Manchester United will be gunning for a double whammy when they host bitter rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Victory would be another step towards securing a top-four spot and Champions League football again next season, while it could also have the welcome side-effect of derailing Liverpool's hopes of winning a first top-flight title since 1990.

Interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is yet to lose domestically since taking over in December - incidentally after a defeat to Liverpool - and victory over the same team that spelled the end of Jose Mourinho's reign could help him land the job on a permanent basis.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the Norwegian could line his side up for the mouth-watering showdown.

United have been boosted by the news that Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial could both be in contention to feature on Sunday, having picked up injuries during the Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Solskjaer's pre-match comments suggest that Martial is the more likely of the two to be fit enough to start, although Lingard will also undergo a late fitness test and could be involved in some capacity.

Juan Mata appears to be the most likely to start in Lingard's place if required, although Solskjaer also has Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku among his options.

Ander Herrera has established himself as a fixture in the midfield trio under Solskjaer and should start again, while in defence the pace of Eric Bailly may just give him the edge over Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
