Yaya Toure: Manchester City can win Champions League in "few years"

Yaya Toure says that Manchester City can keep progressing as a team and win the Champions League title in "a few years".

Yaya Toure has claimed that Manchester City will continue progressing as a team to the point that the club will win the Champions League in "a few years".

The Sky Blues bowed out of the group stage of the competition in the past two editions of the tournament under former manager Roberto Mancini.

However, current boss Manuel Pellegrini has already secured the team's progression to the last-16 stage for the first time in the club's history.

Toure, who won the competition with Barcelona in 2009, says it is only a matter of time before he fulfils a personal ambition by lifting the Champions League trophy as a City player.

He told The Sunday Mirror: "Winning the Champions League was why I came to City.

"God willing, it will happen because that is what this club was working towards when they signed players like Kun Aguero and David Silva.

"With important players like that, I am sure that, in the next few years, we will win all the important trophies."

The Citizens' final game in Group D is a clash away to defending champions Bayern Munich, who they meet at the Allianz Arena on December 10.

Pellegrini's charges secured a 4-2 victory over Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday.
