Frank Lampard: 'Manchester City capable of beating Barcelona'

Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard insists that he and his teammates can still overcome Barcelona in the Champions League last 16.

Frank Lampard has insisted that Manchester City are capable of stunning Barcelona to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Premier League champions travel to the Camp Nou tomorrow looking to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit in the last 16.

While he admits that it will be tough to turn the tie around, Lampard believes that City are still in with a shot of making it through to the last eight.

"There's nothing wrong with being written off," he told the club's official website. "We're certainly still in the tie though if it had been 3-1 or 4-1 in their favour, it would be a bit more understandable.

"I've been in too many games like this where you don't perform in one game but it's a complete turnaround in the second leg. Make no bones about it – Barcelona are obviously favourites; they're ahead 2-1 and they are at home so they have the advantage, but we have the quality at this club to turn this game around."

Manuel Pellegrini's side head to Spain on the back of a surprise 1-0 defeat away to Burnley in the Premier League.
