Liverpool midfielder Ben Woodburn will reportedly remain at the club until the end of the season after talks over a loan move to Hull City broke down.

Liverpool midfielder Ben Woodburn is reportedly set to stay at the club beyond the end of the transfer window after talks over a loan move to Hull City broke down.

Woodburn spent the first half of the season on loan at Sheffield United but saw that arrangement cut short having played only eight games for the Championship promotion hopefuls.

The Welshman was expected to again be sent out on a temporary basis until the end of the season, but the Evening Standard reports that he will now stay at the club beyond tonight's 11pm transfer deadline.

Hull had been considered the frontrunners for Woodburn's signature, but negotiations between the two parties are understood to have broken down.

The loan deadline also expires at 11pm tonight, meaning that Woodburn is now likely to stay at Anfield for the rest of the season, barring any unexpected late interest.

The 19-year-old made only two appearances for Liverpool across all competitions last season.
