Brendan Rodgers backs left-out Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to come good

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists that shunned Simon Mignolet will be a "better goalkeeper" when he returns to the Reds' starting XI.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his confidence in ousted goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to return to the side as a better player after he was dropped.

The Belgian stopper has been told to expect an indefinite period on the bench as Brad Jones fills in for him between the sticks.

Despite the shun, Rodgers has said that Mignolet has been "fantastic" in training and will be a better keeper because of it.

"I haven't lost any belief in him - he's still an outstanding goalkeeper," PA quotes Rodgers as saying.

"I'm sure when the time comes for him to come back in, he'll be a better goalkeeper for it."

Liverpool have conceded six goals in the three games since Mignolet's axe.
