Jurgen Klopp: 'We do not know what is wrong with Daniel Sturridge'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits to being in the dark over Daniel Sturridge's latest injury setback.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he is yet to discover the extent of Daniel Sturridge's latest injury.

The striker was poised to be named in the Reds' squad for Thursday's 2-1 Europa League win over Bordeaux, before pulling out with a reported foot problem.

Sturridge, 26, was sent for a scan, and the German admits that he is in the dark over the prognosis.

"I don't know too much about the situation because it was in the afternoon, following training and we trained in two groups," Klopp told reporters.

"The one was with the starters and then another group working on shooting. We can now start thinking about it because we had no time before as it was really close to the game when the news came.

"We had Cameron Brannagan in the hotel with us just in case something happened and it did so we still had 18 for the squad. There's nothing new to tell in this moment, we have to wait."

The injury-plagued England international had only returned to full training on November 17 following a six-week absence with a knee problem.

Sturridge, who started just seven Premier League games last season after struggling with knee and hip issues, is yet to play under Klopp.
