Joe Allen relishing Champions League stage

Joe Allen says that he is relishing the prospect of representing Liverpool in the Champions League next season.

Joe Allen has admitted that he is relishing the prospect of representing Liverpool in the Champions League next season.

The Reds secured a second-place finish in the Premier League last term to earn qualification into Europe's elite tournament for the first time since 2009.

"I can't wait. It was something that as a young footballer you dream about," Allen told reporters.

"Obviously this season is just finishing but that is one of the big reasons to celebrate, we will be in the Champions League next season.

"As a player you set targets and goals and one of them is to play Champions League football. And I can't wait and I'm sure the fans feel the same way."

Liverpool finished two points adrift of champions Manchester City in the 2013-14 league campaign.
