Rangers through to fifth round of Scottish Cup after Kilmarnock win

Rangers book their place in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a 3-0 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

Rnagers are through to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup courtesy of a comfortable 3-0 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox this afternoon.

Nicky Law scored twice, either side of Kris Boyd's effort as Ally McCoist's men eased past the visitors.

Lee McCulloch perhaps should have done better when he flashed a near-post header over the bar from a corner on 14 minutes.

Alexei Eremenko almost gave Kilmarnock the lead when his low effort was deflected into the side netting shortly after McCulloch's chance.

Rangers had a penalty appeal waved away when the ball appeared to strike Tope Obadeyi on the hand, but moments later the home side were ahead.

The ball dropped to Law on the edge of the box and the 26-year-old curled into the corner via a headed deflection off a defender.

Lewis Macleod unleashed a left-footed volley from around 25 yards out shortly before Kenny Miller was denied by a vital last-ditch tackle inside the area by Ross Barbour.

Boyd was introduced as a substitute in the second half, and the striker wasted no time in making his mark as he doubled their advantage on 71 minutes.

Law then made the result safe seven minutes from time when he guided a 25-yard effort into the corner for his ninth goal of the season.
