Massimiliano Allegri: 'We will challenge for title'

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri remains confident that his team will still challenge for the Serie A title this season despite a poor start to their latest defence.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has insisted that his team will still challenge for the Serie A title this season despite their disappointing start to the 2015-16 campaign.

The Old Lady, who have won the last four Italian titles, have only won two of their eight league games this season and currently sit down in 14th in the table, some nine points off the leaders Fiorentina.

Despite an underwhelming title defence thus far, Allegri has said that his team will "definitely" still challenge for the crown in the second half of the season.

"I don't know if we'll win the Scudetto, but we will definitely get back into the race. That's for certain. I don't want us to get caught up in the anxiety of the situation now, as there's a long way to go," Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

"The plan is to be challenging by the start of March and then we'll see about a final push. Getting one point here doesn't move the table much, but it stops Inter breaking away, we kept a clean sheet and put in a strong performance.

"Once again, we have to realise a team that scores nine goals in eight games cannot win the Scudetto, so we've got to improve our finishing."

Juventus drew 0-0 with Inter Milan at the San Siro on Sunday.
