Late Sebastian Langkamp goal downs 10-man Hamburger SV

Sebastian Langkamp nets a late winner as Hertha Berlin boost their survival hopes with a 1-0 win at Hamburger SV.

Sebastian Langkamp struck an 84th-minute winner as Hertha Berlin beat 10-man Hamburger SV 1-0 to move six points clear of the relegation zone in the Bundesliga.

The defender pounced just three minutes after Cleber was sent off for a second yellow card as Pal Dardai's side boosted their survival hopes with victory at the Imtech Arena.

Hamburg, who remain two points clear of danger, started brightly as Rafael van der Vaart and Ivica Olic both sent efforts narrowly wide of the post in the first 20 minutes.

Accused of chiseling off a piece of Germany's famous Berlin Wall this week, Salomon Kalou began chipping away at Hamburg's defence and should have broken them down after heading straight at Rene Adler on 65 minutes.

Hertha were given a boost in their search for a winner when Cleber was sent off on 81 minutes, and the visitors swiftly punished the hosts when Langkamp guided a free kick past Adler just six minutes from time.
