How Germany could line up against Spain

Sports Mole looks at how Germany could line up for Thursday's UEFA Nations League clash against Spain.

Germany begin their UEFA Nations League campaign on Thursday evening with a home match against Spain in Stuttgart.

Joachim Low's men finished bottom of their group in the inaugural competition, but they responded well with a positive Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

After a 10-month break between matches owing to the coronavirus pandemic, Die Mannschaft will be looking to hit the ground running against Spain.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Germany could line up for Thursday's clash at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Possible GER XI vs. SPA

Low has left Bayern Munich treble winners Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka out of his 22-man squad for this match and the trip to Switzerland.

Niklas Sule has been included, however, having recovered from an injury layoff in time to help Bayern win the Champions League.

Another previous long-term absentee, new Bayern winger Leroy Sane, is also included in the squad and is in strong contention to start his first competitive game in 12 months.

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus has earned his first call-up, meanwhile, and Atalanta BC's Robin Gosens is also in line for a first cap.

Up top, Timo Werner earned a big-money move to Chelsea in the summer and seems the likely option to lead the line, perhaps playing just off soon-to-be teammate Kai Havertz.
