Forfar Athletic will play for a place in the Scottish Championship next season after a 1-1 draw with Stranraer saw them advance 4-1 on aggregate at Stair Park this afternoon.

Martin Fotheringham went close for Forfar on 15 minutes when he saw his shot saved by Stranraer keeper David Mitchell.

The visitors saw their 3-0 lead from the first leg reduced when Chris Aitken netted from the penalty spot four minutes before the break, after William Gibson had been brought down.

However, Athletic were handed a chance to even the score up eight minutes into the second period when Omar Kader was fouled by Sean Winter in the penalty area.

Gavin Swankie took the spot kick to net his 13th goal of the campaign, before Kader came close to extending their advantage inside the final 15 minutes, but Forfar had already done enough to progress.
