Preview: Dundee vs. Ross County - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Scottish Premiership clash between Dundee and Ross County, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Ross County will be bidding to end a three-game losing run in all competitions when they travel to Dundee in the Scottish Premiership on Tuesday night.

Neither side has been in action since the end of September, with their games in October thus far being postponed due to severe weather in Scotland.

Dundee's last match was against Hibernian at the end of September, with the two teams playing out a goalless draw, and the Dee have actually shared the points in three of their last four games in the Scottish Premiership.

Tony Docherty's side have only played seven times in the league this season, boasting a record of one win, four draws and two defeats, with a total of seven points leaving them in 10th position in the table.

The team's only win of the campaign came at home to Hearts at the end of August, but the fact that they have only lost twice - to St Mirren and Celtic - is certainly a positive early in the season.

Dundee won the Scottish Championship last season to secure a return to this level of football, and they are only three points behind sixth-placed Motherwell with a game in hand.

The Dark Blues have only scored seven times in the league this term, which is slightly concerning, but their total is one more than Ross County have managed in the same number of games.

Ross County have also not been in action since the end of September, suffering a 1-0 loss to Hearts, which proved to be their third defeat in a row in all competitions.

Malky Mackay's side were last victorious away to Kilmarnock at the start of September, and they have only picked up one point from their last three matches in the Scottish Premiership.

Ross County have a record of two wins, one draw and four defeats from their seven league games this term, with a total of seven points leaving them in 11th position in the table.

The Staggies have a busy end to October, facing Dundee, Motherwell and Hibernian in quick succession, before opening November with a clash against the champions Celtic.

Mackay's team, as mentioned, have only scored six times in the league this season, which is the second-worst record behind basement side St Johnstone, who have only registered three times.

Team News

Dundee will be without the services of Scott TIffoney and Jordan McGhee on Tuesday through injury, but the home side are otherwise in strong shape.

Head coach Docherty could potentially select the same XI that took to the field for the first whistle against Hibernian at the end of September.

Indeed, a 5-3-2 formation should include Zak Rudden, who has scored once in the league this term, while on-loan forward Amadou Bakayoko is also expected to keep his spot in the side.

As for Ross County, Josh Reid, Josh Sims and Ben Paton remain on the sidelines, with the trio not expected to be back on the field until next month at the earliest.

The visitors did not pick up any issues against Hearts last time out, while there have not been any reports of any new problems during their period of inactivity.

Simon Murray has scored twice in the league this season, and the 31-year-old is expected to be given the nod in an advanced area on Tuesday night.

Dundee possible starting lineup:
Carson; Kerr, Portales, Shaughnessy, Lamie, Beck; Cameron, Boateng, McCowan; Rudden, Bakayoko

Ross County possible starting lineup:
Laidlaw; Nightingale, Baldwin, Leak; Brown, Turner, Randall, Purrington; Samuel, Murray, Dhanda

We say: Dundee 1-1 Ross County

It is difficult to know exactly what to expect from this match considering that the two teams have been inactive since the end of last month. There is not a great deal between them in terms of quality, though, and we are expecting the points to be shared on Tuesday night.
