Half-Time Report: Coventry City cruise into 3-0 lead

Coventry City coast into a 3-0 lead in the first half against Carlisle United, thanks to goals from Leon Clarke, Franck Moussa and Charlie Daniels.

Coventry City have sailed into a 3-0 lead over Carlisle United at Brunton Park, courtesy of goals from Leon Clarke, Franck Moussa and Charlie Daniels.

The Cumbrians have lost by a four-goal deficit in each of their opening two games, and the Sky Blues have made inroads toward maintaining the status quo for the hosts in the early stages, with Clarke and Moussa both scoring within the opening 10 minutes for the visitors.

Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott then watched his side spurn the opportunity to halve the deficit minutes later, as midfielder James Berrett saw his penalty saved by goalkeeper Joe Murphy.

The 24-year-old soon rued his miss, as Daniels then added a third on the half-hour mark, tapping home from close range after Callum Wilson put it on a plate for his teammate to give his team a seemingly unassailable lead ahead of the remaining 45 minutes.
