Cordoba earn first La Liga point with draw against Celta Vigo

Newly-promoted Cordoba pick up their first La Liga point of the season by coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Celta Vigo.

Newly-promoted Cordoba registered their first La Liga point of the season by drawing 1-1 with Celta Vigo this evening.

Chances were few and far between in the first half, although Nolito did put the ball in the net in the 19th minute, only for his effort was ruled out for offside.

Celta took the lead soon after half time when Fabian Orellana cut in from the right wing and shot low to the near post with his left foot. Cordoba keeper Juan Carlos should have kept it out, but he allowed the ball to slip through his grasp.

Cordoba, who had to travel to Real Madrid in their first top-flight game for 42 years last weekend, were level on the hour mark through Federico Cartabia, who found the near corner of the net after a loose ball in the box broke his way.

Celta had the better chances to win it, but they were unable to convert and had to settle for a point which ends their 100% start to the season.
