Jordan Cousins wins it for Charlton Athletic

Jordan Cousins strikes 10 minutes from time to give Charlton Athletic the 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

Charlton Athletic have given their chances of avoiding the drop a huge boost with a 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Jordan Cousins scored late on for the visitors, who are now 21st in the Championship with three games in hand over Yeovil Town, one place below them.

Astrit Ajdarevic had a couple of efforts early on for Charlton, but both shots were unable to find the target before Reza Ghoochanneijhad saw an effort of his own blocked by the Forest defence.

Marvin Sordell came close to scoring for the visiting Addicks, but his effort could only find the post on 26 minutes after Cousins had teed his teammate up.

Darius Henderson had earlier had a chance for the home side but his left-footed shot flashed wide after Gonzalo Jara's clever through-ball.

Simon Cox hit the post towards the end of the first half for Forest before Henderson was denied in stoppage time with a header.

Cousins netted the winner nine minutes from time when he converted into the bottom corner after finding some space for the shot inside the box.

Jamie Paterson's free kick sailed over the bar late on as Forest searched for a late equaliser.
