Ipswich Town are leading Charlton Athletic 1-0 at the break in the Championship.

Tommy Smith's fifth-minute strike gave the visitors the lead at The Valley, when he headed home Aaron Cresswell's cross.

Mick McCarthy's side peppered shots at Ben Alnwick early in the Charlton goal but found the keeper in good form.

First the stopper parried away an effort from David McGoldrick, before saving from Luke Chambers.
