Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill looks to the future following promotion

Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill hopes that the club's promotion to the Championship is the beginning of a special period for the outfit.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill hopes that the club's promotion from League One is the start of something special.

The Robins secured a place in the Championship for next season with a 6-0 victory at Bradford City on Tuesday evening, ensuring promotion with three games to spare.

Cotterill has said that he is already setting his sights on the future.

"Hopefully it's the start of something big for Bristol City," he told the club's official website.

"Our supporters have been magnificent at home and away this season. I can't speak highly enough of them – to have as many as we had here tonight on a Tuesday at Bradford from Bristol. It's not like it's just up the M5 and up the M6. The amount of motorways you have to go across to get here is unbelievable!

"We're going to go to some good clubs and if we can replicate our football a level up, that will be great."

City are 10 points clear of second-placed Preston North End in the table, although the Lancashire side have a game in hand.
