Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that Lars Bender is one of a number of players that they are watching.

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has reiterated that the club are interested in Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender.

The Bavarian club have made no secret of their desire to land the 23-year-old, who was a part of Germany's Euro 2012 squad.

Recent comments from Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes drew scorn from Leverkusen chief executive Wolfgang Holzhauser, who accused the Bavarian club of tapping up the 23-year-old.

However, Rummenigge has now hit back at Holzhauser, telling him that he should calm down.

"I recommend that Leverkusen take things in a more relaxed and more confident manner than right now," Rumenigge told Bild. "Everyone knows that we are watching the transfer market for players in that position and our sports directors have some players on their list who they are watching.

"I can only say that we are pretty relaxed in this case. We could imagine that Lars Bender will be a target for Bayern Munich, but we have to wait.

"We know that there is a price for every player, and if Bayern Munich is willing to pay that price it is possible that the player will pull on a Bayern shirt, but we have to calm down."

Leverkusen reportedly value Bender at around £19.5m.
