Thomas Muller focused on Bayern Munich amid talk of Germany recall

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller plays down talk of a return to the German national team following his excellent start to the Bundesliga season.

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has affirmed that he is fully focused on his exploits with Bayern Munich amid speculation surrounding a potential recall to the German national team.

The 31-year-old has not turned out for his country since the 2018 World Cup, where Germany's defence of their crown ended in the group stage.

Joachim Low's men have struggled for consistent results since and were recently thrashed 6-0 by Spain in the Nations League, but Muller has insisted that a return to international duty has been pushed right to the back of his mind.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Muller said: "That's a topic that is very far away for me. I'm trying to help the team I'm on the field.

"You can talk about it as much as you like. I'll stick with it and then we'll see what happens. The DFB decided [to keep Low on as coach], so all Germans have to stand behind this decision and do everything to ensure we get things going again.

"And with Joachim Low, we are going to get things going again."

Muller has been in excellent form for Bayern with nine goals and nine assists across all competitions this season, and the German netted a brace in Saturday's 3-3 draw with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
