Pep Guardiola proud despite loss to Augsburg

Pep Guardiola insists that he is "very proud" of his Bayern Munich players despite the 1-0 loss to Augsburg.

Pep Guardiola has insisted that he is proud of his Bayern Munich players despite watching them lose 1-0 to Augsburg at the Allianz Arena today.

The Spaniard elected to start most of his key players, despite needing to prepare for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with Barcelona after a 3-0 first-leg loss in midweek.

However, the Bundesliga champions were unable to boost morale as Raul Bobadilla scored the winner for the visitors after Bayern were forced to play much of the game with 10 men due to Pepe Reina's red card.

"Bayern have no wingers left who can attack on the flanks," Guardiola told reporters. "We're reliant on our full-backs to attack down those avenues.

"It wasn't easy to play for 80 minutes with 10 men, especially after that 3-0 loss at Barcelona. I'm actually very proud of the players."

Bayern have lost three matches in a row without scoring a goal since being knocked out of the DFB-Pokal semi-final with a penalty-shootout defeat to Borussia Dortmund.
