Andres Iniesta confirms Vissel Kobe move

Andres Iniesta confirms that he is joining Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe from Barcelona with a post on his social media page.

Spanish midfielder Andres Iniesta has confirmed that he is joining Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe.

Iniesta played his last game for Barcelona against Real Sociedad on Sunday night, with the Spaniard departing the Catalan giants following 674 appearances in all competitions.

Iniesta was expected to move to the Chinese Super League, but Vissel Kobe have won the race for the 34-year-old, who will be unveiled to the Japanese media on Thursday.

Vissel Kobe's chairman Hiroshi Mikitani is the chief executive of Japanese electronics company Rakuten, who are currently the shirt sponsors of Barcelona, and Iniesta has posted an image alongside Mikitani revealing that he is 'heading for his new home'.

Iniesta, who won 32 trophies in 16 years as part of the first team at Barcelona, will travel with the Spain squad to the 2018 World Cup.

Former Arsenal attacker Lucas Podolski is part of the squad at Vissel Kobe.
