Philippe Senderos hoping for Ron Vlaar stay at Aston Villa

New signing Philippe Senderos urges Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar to stay with the club this summer.

Aston Villa defender Philippe Senderos has urged Ron Vlaar to stay with the club this summer.

The Dutch international has been linked with a number of clubs from across Europe after impressing for his country at the World Cup.

However, Senderos is hoping that his captain will turn down the chance to move on and remain at Villa Park.

"It would be brilliant if he can stay. I think the club are trying everything they can to keep him. He's our captain and a very important player," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

Villa started their Premier League campaign on Saturday with a 1-0 win at Stoke City.
