Montpellier HSC, AS Monaco share points

Montpellier come from a goal down to share a 1-1 draw with AS Monaco.

Montpellier HSC and AS Monaco have shared the points after playing to a 1-1 draw in Ligue 1 this evening.

Joao Moutinho tested Geoffrey Jourdren with a long-range effort early on, but the home side's goalkeeper was able to keep out the strike.

Radamel Falcao proved the visitors' main threat as the first half progressed, forcing Jourdren to take action again before seeing another effort blocked, and sending a free kick high.

Monaco edged ahead early in the second half as James Rodriguez delivered the ball for Layvin Kurzawa from a free kick, who had a simple tap in, despite replays suggesting several of his teammates may have been offside.

Going a goal behind rallied Montpellier, with on-loan striker M'Baye Niang drilling a long-range effort towards the Monaco goal, but his shot was well blocked.

The teenager had another chance in the 68th minute when Remy Cabella was brought down by Eric Abidal in the penalty area.

Niang stepped up to take the spot kick, and saw his shot stopped by Danijel Subasic, but he followed the effort in and was able to tap in from the rebound.

Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco came close to stealing the win for the visitors in stoppage time, but his low shot was well stopped on the line.

The results leaves Monaco second in the table, while Montpellier move away from the relegation zone.
