Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has been named as one of six new inductees into the Premier League's Hall of Fame.

The 58-year-old, who also turned out for Crystal Palace and West Ham United in the top flight, banked a total of 113 goals in the Premier League - 104 of which came during his time at Highbury.

Wright enjoyed two 20+ goal seasons with Arsenal in the Premier League during the 1993-94 and 1996-97 campaigns and broke Cliff Bastin's all-time Gunners goalscoring record in September 1997, registering his 179th strike against Bolton Wanderers.

"It's a real privilege to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. You have to remember that for the majority of my football journey, I never thought I'd become a professional footballer. So to do that, enjoy the times I had with the fans and my teammates and now to receive this accolade, is a true honour. I feel really humbled," Wright told arsenal.com.

"Growing up in South London, football was my escape. We played for pure enjoyment and that's something that never left me when I played the game. I always felt like I was running out of time and this recognition is a special reminder to appreciate the journey, the hard work and getting over the doubts I had.

"I also have to thank so many incredible teammates, backroom staff and managers, most notably Steve Coppell who gave me the chance and shaped the player I became."

Sergio Aguero, Didier Drogba, Vincent Kompany, Paul Scholes and Peter Schmeichel make up the rest of the new inductees into the Premier League Hall of Fame, with Wright the fourth ex-Arsenal man to make the illustrious list alongside Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira.
