Kevin Pietersen has set aside his personal differences with his former England teammate Matt Prior to wish the retiring wicketkeeper well for the future.

The pair had initially been close friends, but after several years together in the dressing room, they had many disputes which Pietersen believes helped contribute to him being sacked by England.

Writing in his recent autobiography, Pietersen branded Prior "The Big Cheese" throughout, but following the news this afternoon that a long-standing Achilles injury had forced the 33-year-old to call time on his career, he tweeted: "We may have had our differences, but I'd like to wish @MattPrior13 all the best for his future. We did play some v good cricket together."

In total, Prior made 79 Test appearances for England.
