James Anderson relishing the prospect of working with Trevor Bayliss

England bowler James Anderson admits that he cannot wait to get started working with new coach Trevor Bayliss ahead of the Ashes.

England bowler James Anderson has revealed that he is relishing the prospect with new coach Trevor Bayliss ahead of the Ashes.

The 52-year-old will take charge of the Three Lions ahead of the first Test in July after he was named as Peter Moores's replacement last month.

Anderson believes that Bayliss's methods of coaching will be a great benefit to him and his teammates ahead of the crunch series against Australia.

"I think everyone's really excited," Anderson told Sky Sports News. "I've never met him [Bayliss] before but all the things we hear from people that he has coached around the world are good things.

"I think he's quite an old-fashioned type of coach which will probably be good for us – quite a hard-nosed guy and trying to push us in the right direction.

"I think we've got the basis of a good team and hopefully he can just take us on that step further."

The first Test of the Ashes begins in July 8 at Sophia Gardens.
