Joe Cordina: "I wanted revenge"

Wales boxer Joe Cordina is confident that "the medals will come" after booking his spot in the quarter-finals of the Commonwealth Games.

Wales boxer Joe Cordina is confident that he can triumph at the Commonwealth Games this summer after gaining "revenge" on Canadian David Gauthier on Sunday.

Cordina lost to Gauthier 10 weeks ago, but avenged that defeat in the last-16 clash between the two lightweights in Glasgow.

"David had beaten me before, 10 weeks ago, so I wanted revenge. Obviously I put him down in the first round, which wasn't part of the plan, but it just came," he told Sports Mole.

"As long as I just continue doing what I am doing and listening to all my coaches then the medals will come."

Cordina will fight New Zealand's Chad Milnes in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
