San Antonio Spurs extend lead over Portland Trail Blazers

The San Antonio Spurs claim a 2-0 lead over the Portland Trail Blazers in their Western Conference semi-final series.

The San Antonio Spurs completed back-to-back wins over the Portland Trail Blazers to take a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference semi-final series.

After a well-matched first quarter, the Spurs dominated the second period, giving Portland too much to do to get back into the game in the second half.

San Antonio outscored the visitors 41-25 in the second quarter, led by a flurry of shots from Boris Diaw during a 23-8 run for the hosts.

Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge tried to get the Trail Blazers back into contention, having 43 shots between them, but their shooting accuracy let them down as they combined for 35 points.

The Trail Blazers will have the chance to get back into the series when they play their first home game tomorrow evening.
