Good morning ladies and gentlemen and a very warm welcome to what promises to be a glorious Friday on day two of the Commonwealth Games. There's some 22 gold medals up for grabs throughout the course of the day so stay tuned to see if the home nations can nab a few of those.

Kimberley Renicks has thanked the "absolutely brilliant" Scotland supporters for inspiring her to a Commonwealth Games gold medal in Glasgow on Thursday. Renicks beat India's Shushila Likmabam in the -48kg judo event with a textbook ippon to become the host nation's first champion of the Games.

Staying with Scotland, check this out my friends. Move over Ellen De Generes, Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts as Team Scotland rival Hollywood's elite in the selfie stakes with this cracker:

Ross Murdoch may have surprised quite a few by pipping Michael Jamieson to gold in Thursday's 200m breaststroke, but a certain ex-Scottish Olympian says that he is not surprised by the 20-year-old's triumph. Click here to read more.

England's judo star Colin Oates has said that he is pleased to have lived up to his favorites tag and won gold in the Commonwealth Games on Thursday. Oates, 31, became the second of three English champions in the judo event in day one of the Games by beating Andreas Krassas of Cyprus in the -66kg category.

UPDATE: Wales have just gone 3-1 down to India in the men's hockey this morning, with some 23 minutes left.

Team Scotland's Stephanie Inglis has revealed that she was disappointed to miss out on a gold medal in the women's under-57kgs Judo at the Commonwealth Games. The 25-year-old lost to England's Nekoda Davis in the final as Davis defeated her using the Waza-ari throw to secure the gold-medal win in Glasgow.

Wales men's hockey side have marked their Commonwealth Games return after a 12-year exile with a defeat after losing 3-1 to India this morning. Click here for our report on the clash.

We've got an interview from Team England diver Chris Mears now, who has been speaking exclusively to Sports Mole's Commonwealth Games correspondents Pascal Lemerse and Neil Wilkes about his injury-blighted 2014. Find it here!

BREAKING: Welsh runner Rhys Williams has been withdrawn from the Commonwealth Games after being found to have breached anti-doping regulations. Click here for more on this.

Some more fallout to Ross Murdoch's shock victory over Michael Jamieson yesterday, as Mark Foster says that the 20-year-old has usurped the Olympic silver medalist as the poster boy of Scottish swimming now.

Sports Mole's very own Barney Corkhill is live at the velodrome now to watch Jason Kenny and Laura Trott do their thing.

Team England cyclist Jason Kenny has admitted that he won't be resting on his laurels as he prepares for action in the men's individual sprint at the Commonwealth Games. Kenny was part of the three-man side that won the silver medal in the team sprint on Thursday as England finished behind New Zealand in the gold medal race.

Michael Jamieson is seemingly out for revenge against compatriot Ross Murdoch tonight after he lost to the 20-year-old in the 200m breaststroke yesterday. Tonight's 100m final gets underway at about 8.25pm, and the Olympic silver medalist admits that he craves a first-placed podium finish this time.

Well that's all from me for this afternoon ladies and gents. Things are warming up very nicely indeed as there's plenty of medals on offer this afternoon and tonight so don't venture too far! I'll leave you in the hands of Matt Domm, who will keep you updated for the next few hours. Cheers.

Why thank you Shane. Matt here to guide you through until 4pm. We have Jason Kenny still to take on Matthew Glaetzer in the track sprint to get through to the medal races. The boxing also starts in around an hour, with action in the pool as well. Plenty for us to be getting through this afternoon.

Good news in the pool just now for three of the four home nations. England (second), Scotland (third) and Wales (eighth) have all made it into the final of the men's 4x100m relay freestyle. Australia's second string were comfortably the fastest across both heats. The final will take tonight.

A couple of results from the cycling then. Jason Kenny did brilliantly in his quarter-final against Matthew Glaetzer. Unfortunately for England's other competitor, Matthew Crampton, he was beaten.

GOLD! Shun Xie Teo comes from nowhere to take gold in the 10m women's air pistol final. Singapore's first medal is a gold. Malaika Goel is second for India, and Dorothy Ludwig third for Canada.

Some word now from the chief executive of Welsh athletics Matt Newman. Even though two of his athletes have been banned from the Games for drugs offences he says that there is not a problem in the squad. Obviously without knowing more it's hard to pass further comment.

I'd say let's get ready to rumble, but we already are in Glasgow. It has been a good start for the home nations, with Michael Conlan cruising through his contest and Scott Fitzgerald fair battering Ron Bastien of St Lucia shortly after. Conlan won comfortably on the judge's scorecards while Fitzgerald has just landed a thunderous knockout blow. Very impressive.

MEDAL! Decent bronze for England in the last few minutes as Dan Rivers claims third in the 10m air rifle event. We will have more on that on site for you shortly.

Here's some more reading material for the boxing.

Report of the Fitzgerald fight

His reaction to the win

His reaction to fighting without headguards.

And a word from Michael Conlan on his win against Mathew Martin.

Enjoy.

Less happiness in the ring for Scotland's Lewis Benson. His contest with Bowyn Morgan of New Zealand was a close one, but the Kiwi was just about awarded the win on a split decision. Here's our report of the action.

My stint has come to an end, folks. I'm handing you over to Dan Lewis now, who will see you through the start of the evening's action. There are plenty of medal events to come, so enjoy! Goodbye.

Cheers Matt. As mentioned, there's plenty more medals to be handed out this evening, and as ever we'll be sure to keep you up to date with all the latest goings on!

Team England's Amy Smith has given her thoughts on reaching the 50m freestyle final in the swimming event, saying that it is very much "job done".

Switching to lawn bowls now - and event England have had much joy in so far in the opening two days of competition - and Stuart Airey has played up this evening's meeting with Australia. The men's triples competitor believes that it will essentially be a decider to determine which side tops the group.

Medal update! Wales have just secured a silver medal in the women's shooting event - more on that to come.

Meanwhile, Gevor Mentor has been speaking about how she handled the nerves earlier today as England comfortably saw off Wales to get their netball campaign off to a flyer at the SECC.

Time to bring you up to date with all the latest action at the Commonwealth Games. Neil Fachie and Craig MacLean have won Scotland's fifth gold medal of the competition in the men's 1000m time trial B2 tandem event, while Wales have won silver in the women's skeet shooting event.

The women's 3000m individual pursuit finals are currently underway, and we'll bring you the results from that one shortly.

In the squash event, Team England's Nick Matthew and Peter Barker could still meet in the semi-finals. It has the potential to be a classic, and the latter of the two has warned that he will "give it his all" should their paths cross is Glasgow.

It is an action-packed day in Glasgow, but we'll be bringing you updates from every event - including the boxing

We mentioned an hour ago that Wales had picked up a silver medal in the shooting event, well they can add another silver as well as a bronze to their tally now. It's turning into a fine afternoon for the Welsh after a disappointing start to the day, thanks to the rhythmic gymnastics team. Read more here.

Medal update! Australia have taken gold in the men's sprint final, meaning that there is just one more event to come in the velodrome today - the men's sprint final. We'll bring you reports on both shortly.

Here's a report from the latest cycling race which saw Australia's Jason Kenny take gold at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome.

Okay, time for a little breather now as we bring you more reaction from across the Games. Still to come over the next couple of hours we have judo, swimming and weightlifting - don't go anywhere!

The judo event is now in full swing, so let's bring you up to date: England took two bronze medals in the women's -63kg to kick things off in Glasgow.

Things soon turned even better for England courtesy of Danny Williams, who took the country's eighth gold of the Games in the men's -73kg event.

There's still two more judo events to come this evening, before we turn attention to swimming and weightlifting.

BREAKING! England's Megan Fletcher wins gold in the women's under 70kg judo event. More to follow...

More on that news we brought you a little earlier regarding Megan Fletcher's gold medal in judo.

In the pool, meanwhile, Ben Proud secures Team England's first swimming gold in the 50m butterfly event, setting a new CG record along the way. Read more here.

One final result to bring you before I hand over to Callum Mulvihill, as Team England's Owen Livesy beats compatriot Tom Reed to secure judo gold - and subsequently silver - for England in the men's -81kg. More on that can be found here.

Thank you Dan. Plenty more action to come from the pool and elsewhere tonight as the Commonwealth Games roll on. Reece McFadden has had his say on the "tough" on Andrew Selby after edging out his rival in the ring earlier this evening.

Ross Murdoch, Scotland's hero from last night, has breezed into the final of the 100m breaststroke final with a victory in the pool just moments ago. Could another gold be on the way for the 20-year-old?

Calum Jarvis, who earlier claimed bronze for Wales in the 200m freestyle, has told Sports Mole how thankful he was to receive support from the Scottish supporters inside the arena tonight.

You can read a report of the fantastic display produced by Daniel Wallace, who has joined the Scottish heroes with a gold medal in the 400m individual medley. It's fair to say the locals were pretty happy with that result.

GOLD! Chris Walker-Hebborn becomes the latest Englishman to taste victory in the pool as he dominates the 100m backstroke final to take the gold medal. He will be joined on the podium by teammate Liam Tancock, who finishes third.

Siobhan-Marie O'Connor has just added another medal to England's tally with silver in the 100m butterfly after being edged out by Katerine Savard of Canada.

If you missed the big news earlier today, Welsh hurdler Rhys Williams has been ruled out of the Commonwealth Games after an alleged drugs violation. Former British sprinter Christian Malcolm has defended Williams by insisting that he would not have knowingly taken a banned substance.

The final gold medal of the night in the pool goes to Australia, whose men held off the challenge of South Africa to win the 4x100m freestyle final. There's more good news for the home nations, with England claiming bronze.

Chris Walker-Hebborn, who claimed gold in the 100m backstroke earlier this evening, has suggested that the victory puts "two fingers up" to his doubters. Few would doubt him now.

Corrie Scott has claimed that collecting a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke on Friday made all her training as a youngster worthwhile. There was plenty of support for the Scot, who received one of the biggest cheers of the night for her performance.

We'll take a quick break from what has gone on today to look ahead to the start of the athletics. England's Richard Kilty, who produced a shock to win the 60m at the World Indoor Championships in March, believes that he can prove his critics wrong by making an impact in the 100m heats on Sunday.

Laura Massaro, who is considered a genuine gold medal contender in the squash singles, has claimed that she needs to relax more during matches after booking her spot in the quarter-finals today.

Scotland's Lewis Benson has criticised the judges who awarded the fight to Bowyn Morgan as his Commonwealth Games campaign came to an end with a split decision defeat to the Kiwi on Friday.

That's all from our live text coverage tonight. There's plenty more action scheduled for tomorrow, so make sure you're with us from 9am. I'll leave you with a delighted Liam Tancock and Chris Walker-Hebbon, who claimed bronze and gold, respectively, in the pool earlier this evening.
