Corrie Scott delighted with "best day ever" in Glasgow

Corrie Scott admits that claiming a bronze medal in Glasgow makes all of her training worthwhile.

Corrie Scott has expressed her happiness after winning the bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games.

The Scot was less than two tenths of a second behind winner Leiston Pickett of Australia, but she could not hide her delight at finishing third in front of her local supporters in Glasgow.

"Nights like this make all the early mornings, the early nights and the training worthwhile," Scott said. "I've taken a year out of my university studies for this, as I really wanted to leave no stone unturned in terms of my preparation.

"To achieve this medal in a pool I've been competing in since I was 11 years old, and in front of my parents, my grandparents and my cousins, has made this the best day ever."

Jamaica's Alia Atkinson took the silver medal.
