Ireland's Sinead Cuthbert Cunningham hopes to make 2016 Olympics

Ireland archer Sinead Cuthbert Cunningham, competing in the Baku European Games, expresses her hopes of making the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro after missing out in 2012.

Ireland archer Sinead Cuthbert Cunningham has outlined her ambitions to make the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro after missing out on competing in the London Games in 2012.

The experienced athlete, who is currently taking part in the European Games, also played down her chances of glory in Baku, claiming that her main objective is to do her best.

Cuthbert Cunningham told reporters: "After I didn't make it to London, my sister had bought tickets to see the final so I went to watch the women's final, which was nice.

"So I've seen what it looks like, I've felt the pressure in the room and it's just something I really want to do, so it's made me more focused to get to Rio."

"I don't have a particular finish position in mind [in Baku]. My goal is to shoot every shot along my process and as long as I don't deviate from that I'll be happy coming away from the tournament, regardless of what I do."

Cuthbert Cunningham will be in action at the European Games when the archery competition begins on Tuesday, June 16.
