Ken Whisenhunt: 'Chemistry was key in Tennessee Titans choice'

Ken Whisenhunt reveals that he chose the Tennessee Titans over the Detroit Lions and the Cleveland Browns because he felt better "chemistry" with the team.

New Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt has revealed that he chose the club over the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions because he felt that there was better "chemistry" with the team.

The 51-year-old interviewed for all three clubs last week before his final game as the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers in their divisional round playoff defeat to the Denver Broncos, and after the match he came to a swift decision that the Titans were the team for him.

Whisenhunt told reporters: "Detroit and Cleveland both, great organisations, but I think what it came down to was you have to feel comfortable about the direction that you're going and who you're doing it with. That's not to say anything about any other organisation.

"I think one of the things that I've learned in my time in the NFL is that chemistry is an important part of this. When you feel like you have that chemistry and you're excited about it, that plays a big part in it."

Whisenhunt has previous head coaching experience with the Arizona Cardinals, who he led to the Super Bowl in the 2008 season.
