Michael Vick insists he wasn't benched by New York Jets

New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick insists that he wasn't benched by the franchise but rather they were figuring out their future plans.

New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick has insisted that he did not lose his job as starter due to his performance against the Buffalo Bills.

Vick started in the 38-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills in week 12 and was later replaced by Geno Smith in the starting lineup.

"I don't look at it as me getting benched, first and foremost, to correct you. But if you want to look at it that way, you can," Vick told reporters.

"I just look at it as an opportunity for this organization to figure out the things that they need to figure out and see what they need to see."

Coach Rex Ryan has been unable to rely on either signal-caller through the season so far, with Smith making just 13 passes in Monday night's game against the Miami Dolphins.
