New York Jets sign Graham Harrell

The New York Jets sign former Green Bay quarterback Graham Harrell as cover for Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith.

The New York Jets have signed quarterback Graham Harrell as back-up for the injured Mark Sanchez and out-of-form Geno Smith.

The Jets have experienced a number of problems at quarterback in the build-up to the new season, with coach Rex Ryan seemingly unsure as to who will be his first choice when the new campaign gets underway.

Sanchez had reportedly been edging ahead in the race until he suffered a shoulder injury against the New York Giants on Saturday, while a lack of form from Smith and leg injury to Greg McElroy have left the Jets noticeably short in that department.

Harrell joins the AFC East side having been released by the Green Bay Packers last week following a two-year stay at the franchise.

The 28-year-old has only made four NFL appearances in his career, completing two of four attempted passes.
