Half-Time Report: Detroit Lions lead New York Giants by seven

Detroit Lions are pegged back by New York Giants in the first half of their NFL season opener, after Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson had given them a 14-point lead.

Detroit Lions have opened up a 14-7 half-time lead over New York Giants in their NFL season opener.

The Lions offense set a number of records in the first quarter before being pegged back at Ford Field.

Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson took advantage of an injury to New York's star defensive back, Jason Pierre-Paul, to post their best first-quarter stats for yards thrown and yards received respectively.

Johnson's two touchdowns from Stafford passes helped Detroit, who missed out on the playoffs last season with a 7-9 record, establish a 14-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes.

However, Larry Donnell replied with a touchdown for the Giants in the second quarter as they halted Detroit's momentum, and New York could have Pierre-Paul back for the next half after his neck injury.
