Dallas Cowboys decide against using Morris Claiborne option

The Dallas Cowboys choose not to exercise the fifth-year option on the contract of Morris Claiborne, meaning that the 2015 season could be his final year at the club.

The Dallas Cowboys have decided not to use the fifth-year option on the contract of cornerback Morris Claiborne.

The NFC East side traded up in the 2012 Draft to select Claiborne with the sixth overall pick out of the LSU Tigers, but the 25-year-old has failed to live up to expectations.

The cornerback was benched in the 2014 season before he sustained a torn patellar tendon, which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

Due to his struggles in the league, the Cowboys have opted against using the option on Claiborne's contract for the 2016 season, meaning that the 2015 campaign could be his final year at the club.

Claiborne has recorded 88 tackles and three interceptions in his three seasons in the NFL.
