Mike Smith "looking forward" to working with Osi Umenyiora in 2014

Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith says that he is "looking forward" to continuing to work with defensive end Osi Umenyiora.

Mike Smith has hinted that Osi Umenyiora's future with the Atlanta Falcons is safe after stating that he is "looking forward" to continuing to work with the defensive end.

The NFC South side have already made defensive cuts following the conclusion of the 2013 NFL season, releasing Asante Samuel and Stephen Nicholas.

The head coach told reporters: "I am never gonna say never. But I'm looking forward to continuing to work with him."

The Falcons missed out on a place in the playoffs for the first time since 2009 last season.
