Atlanta Falcons' Asante Samuel: 'No need for athletes to declare sexuality'

Asante Samuel feels that there is no need for an athlete to declare whether they are straight or gay.

Atlanta Falcons cornerback Asante Samuel has questioned the need for athletes to declare their sexuality.

NBA star Jason Collins revealed on Tuesday that he is gay, but Samuel said that there is no need for an athlete to "flaunt" his or her sexuality.

"Straight people are not announcing they're straight, so why does everybody have to announce their sexuality or whatever?" Samuel told Fox Sport Radio. "You know, what they prefer.

"So that's just how I see it. That's my opinion on things. All respect you know, I have nothing but respect for the people whoever decisions they make and whatever, but you know, you don't have to show it and flaunt it like that."

Mike Wallace of the Miami Dolphins was also outspoken in his views.
