Gay rights activist 'detained at Winter Olympics'

Italian gay rights activist Vladmir Luxuria claims that she was detained by police in Sochi because she was carrying a rainbow flag.

An Italian gay rights activist has claimed that she was detained by police in Sochi after carrying a rainbow flag.

The flag, which is symbolic to the gay rights movement, reportedly carried the message "Gay is OK".

Vladmir Luxuria told The AP that she was held for several hours, adding: "The problem was not a rainbow flag, the problem was the writing. They asked me not to show things like that anymore."

The report goes on to say that Sochi organisers had no information of any such incident taking place.
