Vanessa Mae proud of Olympic bow

Vanessa Mae says that she does not regret competing at the Winter Olympics in the women's giant slalom.

Violinist Vanessa Mae has said that she does not regret taking part in the Winter Olympics.

The 35-year-old finished 67th in the women's giant slalom, 50 seconds behind gold medallist Tina Maze.

"Every decade in life I think you've got to discover something new," the Belfast Telegraph quotes Mae as saying.

"Even if it's something that you really should have taken up seriously 25 years ago. It's never too late to try something. If somebody says, 'I want to play the violin', I'm going to say 'okay, you're not going to be great, but you're going to have fun'.

"For me, at least, it was just to try and become a better skier in a short amount of time at my age."

Mae became just the third athlete to represent Thailand at the Winter Olympics.
