Ben Kilner criticises Sochi half-pipe

Great Britain snowboarder Ben Kilner bemoans the state of the Sochi half-pipe, claiming that the 'soft snow' is affecting the performance of the riders.

Great Britain snowboarder Ben Kilner has bemoaned the state of the half-pipe at the Sochi Winter Olympics, claiming that the 'soft snow' is affecting the performance of the riders.

The 25-year-old, who failed to qualify for the semi-finals, is one of several athletes who have criticised the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park conditions.

"The snow is soft and it's hard, our edges are sinking in," Kilner told BBC Sport. "I've had good days and bad days and this was a bad day.

"On the second run I was going to do a double cork on my third hit but I didn't get there. I felt I was coming away from the wall and landed too heavy and couldn't get back."

Fellow British boarder Dominic Harington also failed to reach the semi-finals in today's event.
