Kamil Stoch admits luck helped him win large hill Olympic gold

Polish ski jumper Kamil Stoch admits that he was lucky to win gold in the men's large hill event at the Winter Olympics in Sochi on Saturday.

Polish ski jumper Kamil Stoch has admitted that he was lucky to win gold in the men's large hill event at the Winter Olympics in Sochi on Saturday.

The 26-year-old, who also picked up gold in the men's normal hill earlier this month, concedes that his technique was far from flawless, despite it being ultimately effective.

"I did such a big mistake in the second round, I don't know how I jumped so far," Japan Today quotes Stoch as saying.

"I was too aggressive. That's why I flew so far, but hey, what the heck? That's why I won."

Stoch's margin of victory over silver medallist Noriaki Kasai was 1.3 points.
