Takanashi: "I just wasn't as sharp"

Japan skier Sara Takanashi has admitted that her nerves cost her a medal in the first ever women's ski jumping event in the Winter Olympics.

The 17-year-old was favourite to win the gold medal in the competition, but finished in fourth place after scoring 243 points in her two jumps.

Takanashi told reporters: "Clearly there was something different tonight, but it was nice to be on the stage. I became uptight and I just wasn't as sharp as I usually am."

Germany's Carina Vogt won the gold medal with a score of 247.4.
