Australia's Torah Bright looking forward to Sochi boardercross

Torah Bright says that she is ready to 'stand her ground' during the women's boardercross event at the Sochi Games.

Australia's Torah Bright has said that she is looking forward to competing in the women's snowboard cross event at the 2014 Winter Olympics on Sunday.

The 27-year-old, who won the silver medal in the half-pipe in Sochi on Wednesday, insists that she is ready to test herself in a discipline that she is relatively new to.

"For me in slopestyle and in the half-pipe, it's very much my own game," ABC quotes the 27-year-old as saying.

"But in the boardercross, once you make it through time trials and into rounds, it's you and five other really big babes. My first couple of races, when I made it through the rounds, it was extremely intimidating.

"It's just taken a bit of time to realise that I can stand my ground and 'this is my ground and I'm going to keep my line and I'm going to give you a run for your money'. It's been character-building, I've had to channel the inner fierce Torah to come out."

Bright is the only competitor who has won a medal for Australia in Sochi so far.
