Rain delays Murray semi-final

Severe thunderstorms in New York have caused Andy Murray's US Open semi-final against Tomas Berdych to be delayed.

A tornado warning was put out at around 11am local time (4pm BST) in the Big Apple as wind and rain battered the city.

Murray's match was originally brought forward by an hour to 11am, with the bad weather forecast on Friday night.

However, officials at the US Open have given until 12pm local time (5pm BST) as the earliest for play to get underway.

The Scot is due up first on the Arthur Ashe Stadium before being followed by the second men's semi-final between Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer.

The women's final involving Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams is expected to start later tonight.
