Juan Martin del Potro beats Nicolas Almagro to Shanghai Masters semi-finals

Juan Martin del Potro has secured a place in the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters by securing a 6-3 6-3 victory over Nicolas Almagro.

An early break of serve put the Argentinian on the front foot in the opening set, and while Almagro unleashed a number of impressive shots, Del Potro was too much for him.

After taking a one-set lead, the Argentinian was well matched in the early stages of the second set, but once again he was able to take his chances and nab a break.

Despite his attempts to get back into the game, Almagro was unable to answer Del Potro's shots and relinquished his place in the competition in just over an hour.
