Andy Murray: "Work to be done"

Andy Murray: "Work to be done"

Great Britain's Andy Murray has conceded that he will need to make improvements to his game following his 6-1 7-5 victory over Teymuraz Gabashvili at the Shanghai Masters this afternoon.

The 27-year-old eased through the opening set, but found himself 5-3 down in the second set before he rallied to win through.

"I started the match well, he wasn't in much of a rhythm at the beginning. I was dictating a lot of the points. I was using good variety. At the beginning of the second set, I played a sloppy game on my serve. He gained some confidence from that and started playing better," Murray told Sky Sports News.

"He was timing the ball a lot better in the second set. I just had to find a way to get through in the end. I used smart tactics at the end of the set. I started using the variety again. It was a good start for me, but some work to be done."

The Scot will now take on Poland's Jerzy Janowicz for a place in the third round of the competition.
